What's included in the tour?

The Dunajec River Rafting is one of the most recognizable and valued tourist attractions in all of Poland. For over 200 years, rafts guided by highlander rafters have traversed the Dunajec Gorge. Today – thanks to the comprehensive organization by TrioTravel – you can experience this unique tradition in a comfortable, refined form as a day trip from Zakopane. This is an ideal offer for those who want to see authentic nature, feel the peace of a mountain river, and learn local legends, all while being guaranteed full organization, safety, and the care of an experienced tour operator. The Polish rafting route leads from Sromowce Wyżne to Szczawnica and is approximately 18 kilometers long. Here, the Dunajec River cuts through the Pieniny Mountains, creating a spectacular gorge between limestone walls reaching several hundred meters in height.

The Dunajec Gorge – Nature that cannot be replicated

  • The Three Crowns Massif – the symbol of the Pieniny, the famous Sokolica peak, wild, protected sections of the Pieniny National Park, numerous river bends, rocky cliffs, and natural formations. It is a landscape that inspires awe in every season and stays in your memory for a long time – peaceful, majestic, and completely detached from the daily rush.
  • Traditional Rafting with High-altitude Rafters – The trip takes place on a wooden raft guided by licensed Pieniny rafters, who continue a multi-generational tradition. Each raft accommodates a maximum of 12 people, ensuring comfort and an intimate atmosphere.
  • During the cruise, the rafters: tell stories about the history of rafting, share local legends and anecdotes, and provide interesting facts about the region and its nature.
  • The duration of the rafting itself is approximately 2.5 hours of a calm, relaxing journey on the water. The route is safe, gentle, and suitable for families with children, seniors, and individuals without any previous water experience.
  • Comfortable transport from Zakopane and Kościelisko (pick-up from your accommodation), free time at Lake Czorsztyn and the Niedzica dam (approx. 2 hours), a short lecture and visit to the church in Dębno (a UNESCO World Heritage site), the opportunity to visit Niedzica Castle (additional ticket required), tour leader assistance, and efficient organization throughout the day. The entire trip lasts about 8 hours, making it an ideal full-day excursion from Zakopane.
  • Who is this trip for? We recommend the Polish version of the Dunajec Rafting to: families with children, couples and groups of friends, seniors, tourists visiting Zakopane for the first time, and those looking for a peaceful, scenic attraction without physical effort. It is one of the few trips that combines nature, tradition, and relaxation, without the rush and crowds typical of urban attractions.

The rafting season runs from April 1 to October 31—Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. So, we invite you on the trip every day!

Fun Facts About Dunajec Rafting

The origin of the Dunajec Gorge remains partially unknown to this day. Legends say that this is where the famous knight Ferkowicz chased the king of snakes.

The winding path he took was said to have formed the Dunajec Gorge. Other highlanders say that King Bolesław Chrobry himself carved the river's outlet.
